Moving Timeline: Start Planning Early

1 Month before Moving

Create a Checklist and Inventory List

It’s time to make a checklist of tasks to tackle. Give a 30-day notice if you’re renting, reach out to service providers to cancel or transfer services, and put together an inventory list of items you plan to move.

2 Weeks before Moving

Start Packing. Decide Which Items to Sell or Donate.

Start early by carefully organizing and packing your belongings. Get some cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, tape, and a marker. Consider holding a yard sale or asking a neighbor or family member to lend a hand with the packing process.

1 Week before moving

Pack Essentials and Finalize Packing

Time to wrap up packing your belongings! Ensure all boxes are filled to the top and securely sealed with tape. Pack an essentials box with items you’ll need right away. Since the movers will take about 1-2 weeks to arrive, set aside clothing and other necessities you can manage without in the meantime.

Moving Day

Direct Movers and Coordinate a Last Walk-Through

Assist the movers in parking the truck as close to your home as possible. Walk through your home with the movers to confirm the inventory list, making any necessary adjustments.
